The Czech national team will be joined on Thursday by Boston Bruins forwards David Krejci and David Pastrnak.
The players have been cleared by the club to play at the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship following medical examinations and are on the way to Copenhagen.
For 21-year-old winger Pastrnak it will be the third World Championship participation after 2015 and 2016. He was the Bruins top goals scorer this season. In 82 games he scored 35 goals and had 45 assists. During the playoffs he had six goals and 14 assists in 12 games.
For 31-year-old veteran centre Krejci it will also be the third Worlds after 2008 and 2012. He also played in two Olympic Winter Games and playing in Copenhagen will be the first time he will play for the national team since the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. Having concluded his 12th season with the Boston Bruins, Krejci appeared in 64 games (17 goals, 27 assists) and 12 playoff games (3 goals, 7 assists) this season.
The Czech Republic will play Russia on Thursday evening. The Czechs currently have two roster spots open for skaters (and one for an additional goaltender) that will be used for Krejci and Pastrnak.
