The IIHF Continental Cup of the 2019/2020 season enters its third round with group play in Vojens, Denmark, and in Krakow, Poland, between Friday and Sunday. The two tournaments will determine the four finalists for the Continental Cup.

The Nottingham Panthers, Continental Cup champion of 2017, are the top-seeded team in Group E that takes place in Denmark with Amiens Gothiques from France, host SonderjyskE Vojens and Hungarian champion Ferencvarosi TC from Budapest.

SonderjyskE Vojens is back in the competition for the first time in six years and like last time will host a group at its 5,000-capacity arena. The organizer will stream all games live with Danish commentary on their website and with English commentary in the Game Centre of the tournament on IIHF.com

At the same time Cracovia Krakow from Poland will host Group F that includes Kazakh champion Beibarys Atyrau, Neman Grodno from Belarus and Ukrainian champion HC Donbass, which qualified after hosting and winning a group in the second round. Games of HC Donbass will be broadcast by XSport in Ukraine.

With the third and last preliminary round the Continental Cup gets closer to its final stage. The best two teams of each group will qualify for the final tournament, which will take place from 10 to 12 January 2020 to be held at a venue of the four clubs to be determined during the upcoming weeks.

These four teams will battle for the Continental Cup’s winners’ plate in the 23rd year of the European club competition and a chance to play in the Champions Hockey League next season pending formal approval by the CHL Board.

One year ago Arlan Kokshetau became the first team from Kazakhstan to win the Continental Cup after a shootout victory against the Belfast Giants.
