Sergei Bobrovski will fly to Riga to participate in his fourth IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation announced that Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovski will join the ROC team at the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. He’s expected to arrive in Riga today.
Following a six-day quarantine, the team hopes to have Bobrovski on the line-up during the final round. On the other hand, Washington goaltender Ilya Samsonov, who was originally scheduled to join the team, didn’t travel due to injury.
Bobrovski concluded his 11th NHL season and his second with the Panthers. The two-time Vezina Trophy winner has previously played in three IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship winning a medal at each occasion (gold in 2014, silver in 2015 and bronze in 2016). He won the Best Goaltender award at the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
Previously the arrival of Washington defenceman Dmitri Orlov and St. Louis forward Vladimir Tarasenko had been announced. Both arrived and are in the second phase of their six-day quarantine.
The ROC team has until now formally registered 25 players (23 skaters, 2 goalies) and can register up to three additional players.
