Herning
“Where the sky is the limit” is the motto of Herning. The city is known as a trade fair, culture and sports event city. It is also a business-friendly university city, focusing mainly on manufacturing industry. Herning is a young city and just 170 years ago it had a population of no more than 21 people. By 1913, the population grew to 6,000 and Herning received the status of borough making it one of the youngest in Denmark.
Herning Municipality now has 89.231 inhabitants. Herning is the number-one exhibition city in northern Europe. Every year a large range of trade fairs are held at MCH Messecenter Herning. These are, for instance, Agromek, Denmark’s largest agricultural trade fair, Foodexpo, the biggest retail, hotel, restaurant and food fair in Scandinavia, Formland, the biggest interior, design and home accessories fair in Scandinavia and many more. Herning has also created a tradition of hosting large-scaled sport events.
In 2012 two stages of the Giro d’Italia took place here, and the city has been host to i.e. the 2011 European Under-21 Football Championship, 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships, 2015 World Women’s Handball Championship, 2019 Men’s Handball World Championships and European Championships in cycling, women’s and men’s handball, table tennis, swimming, triathlon, volleyball and badminton. In addition to trade fairs, concerts and events the city is focusing its strength on business tourism.
Herning is home to some of the leading sports teams in Denmark, including the football team FC Midtjylland, the ice hockey team Herning Blue Fox and the handball team HC Midtjylland.

Herning
Kvik Hockey Arena
It serves as the home of Danish pro-league team Herning Blue Fox. Built in 1966 and completely renovated for the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships (where it served as the practice arena) it now has a capacity of 3,700 spectators.With its 58 x 28 m rink size it has the smallest ice sheet of the pro-league rinks in Denmark. The arena has a practice rink as well.
