The 2024 IIHF Championship Disciplinary Panel for the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division IIIA reviewed three different incidents which occurred during Game number 8 between Israel and Kyrgyzstan.

Supplementary discipline implemented against Atai Almazbekov (KGZ)

In the first incident which occurred at 51:19 in the 3rd period, a warning was issued against Team Kyrgyzstan’s Atai Almazbekov for violating IIHF Official Playing Rule 50 (Kneeing).

The Championship Disciplinary Panel determined that, as the opponent was skating towards his attacking zone with possession of the puck, the Player bent his leg 90 degrees and extended it outwards, contacting the opponent dangerously in the knee. In this case, the Disciplinary Panel Chairman took into account the statement made by the Player that the extension of the knee was in an attempt to stop the puck and not to contact his opponent.

Therefore, the Player is deemed to have violated IIHF Official Playing Rule 50 (Kneeing) and shall be sanctioned as follows:
WARNING.

Mike Levin (ISR) suspended

The second incident, which occurred during the 1st period of the game, involved Team Israel’s Mike Levin, who is deemed to have violated IIHF Official Playing Rule 42.

The Disciplinary Chairperson determined that, while the opponent was breaking out of his end zone and made a pass to a teammate, the Player, after he had released the puck, elevated with his upper body and feet leaving the ice, into a hit on the opponent that cut across the front of his core, making both head and body contact. The Player is therefore suspended for violation of IIHF Official Playing Rule 42.

Due to the suspension, he will miss tomorrow’s game between Turkey and Israel.

No further supplementary discipline implemented against Adi Rigler (ISR)

In the third incident, the 2024 IIHF Championship Disciplinary Panel reviewed the play which occurred during the same above-mentioned game involving Team Israel’s Adi Rigler for a potential violation of IIHF Official Playing Rule 50 (Kneeing).

Upon reviewing the incident, the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Junior Championship Disciplinary Panel determined that no supplementary discipline was necessary.
