Tilde Simensen continued her impressive World Championship debut with four goals against Chinese Taipei, as Norway added a third win and second shutout in Jaca.
 
Norway needed less than a minute to open scoring, with Tiril Arntzen putting the puck past Yi-Ting Chiu at 00:41. Ingvill Hernes collected her first of the tournament shortly after, increasing Norway’s lead to 2-0. Simensen got to work in the second period, scoring back-to-back goals just 42 seconds apart. Kajsa Braten tapped the puck past Chiu at 34:26, with Chinese Taipei then opting to swap goalies and Yi-Qing Chen entering the game.
 
Simensen completed her second period hat trick at 36:35, but wasn’t done with adding to the score, with a fourth goal in the opening minute of the third period. Captain Ida Haave got on the board as well, with Braten scoring two more in the third period, making it a repeat of Norway’s opening game versus Australia (in which Braten also scored three goals and Simensen four).

Australia 3-Korea 0

Australia secured their first win of the tournament on Thursday, rebounding from tough 15-0 and 9-0 losses to Norway and Spain to shutout Korea 3-0.
 
After a scoreless first period, Natasha Dube tipped a shot from Katrina Rapchuk past Korean goalie Hyoseo Cheon at 25:33. Dube found the back of the net two more times, with wrist shots sent top shelf over Cheon’s shoulder in the second and third periods.
 
Australian goaltender Amelia Knott made 30 saves for the shutout, with her team killing four penalties to keep Korea at bay.

Poland 1-Spain 5

The host nation won their third game in a row on Thursday, erupting in the second period with four goals to deliver Poland their first loss of the tournament.
 
Neither team was able to score in the first period, but Spanish youngster Carlota Castellanos broke the stalemate at the start of the second; a shot from Lidia Romero trickled past Polish goalie Alicja Kobiela, with Castellanos on her doorstep to tap it across the line. Spain then took command of the game, with goals from Claudia Castellanos, Romero and Rosa Marti, to take a 4-0 lead.
 
Poland’s Karolina Gawandtka got her team on the board at 43:38, redirecting a shot from defender Natalia Wanczuk into the net. Shots were nearly even in the third period, with Spain just edging out Poland 12 to 11. Poland spent a chunk of time on the penalty kill with back-to-back minors, but kept Spain from scoring with the extra attacker. They were unable to close the gap however, with Spain’s Claudia Castellanos having the last word and scoring with five minutes remaining.
