The excitement is rising quickly at the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship! In our second Power Rankings, host Switzerland rides a wave of emotion into first place, coming off a 6-1 shellacking of neighbouring rival Germany. Finland moves up into second place after a big 6-2 victory over the defending champion Americans. And the ever-powerful Canadians are right there in third place, having come alive in the third period courtesy of Sidney Crosby’s playmaking to defeat Denmark 5-1. The field feels wide open. We can’t wait to see what the remaining preliminary round games will bring!
