The 2026 IIHF Championship Disciplinary Panel for the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World U20 Championship Group IA has issued a one-game suspension to France’s Alexandre Monarque for slew-footing.
The incident occurred at 39:36 (19:36 into the second period) in Game #7 of the tournament between France and Kazakhstan. In the play, Monarque pursues a puck in the Kazakhstan zone. Kazakhstan’s defender Ignat Schevchenko gets to the puck first and passes it to a teammate. As Monarque makes upper-body contact, he also makes contact with his right leg and forces Schevchenko to fall backwards. This is a dangerous play and slew-footing, which constitutes a violation of Official Playing Rule 52.
The 2026 IIHF Championship Disciplinary Panel has determined that Monarque is suspended for one (1) game, in accordance with IIHF Disciplinary Regulations Article 10.5.
Monarque will serve his suspension in Game #12, France vs. Slovenia, on December 11, 2025.
