1 year to go until Youth Olympics

Today it’s one year to go until the start of the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games, which will take place in the Gangwon Province of the Republic of Korea. The dates for the multi-sport event are 19 January to 1 February 2024.

The competitions will take place at different venues across the province with ice hockey taking place at the Gangneung Hockey Centre, which was built for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Today at the Pyeongchang Yongpyong ski resort, the mascot, the theme song and choreography, developed by local youth, will be launched.

1,900 athletes are expected to participate at the next Youth Olympics including 424 in the ice hockey competitions: 108 female and 108 male players in the regular ice hockey tournaments, and 104 players of each gender in the 3-on-3 tournaments.

The teams for the ice hockey tournaments will be determined following the end of the 2022/2023 ice hockey season.

The previous editions of the Winter Youth Olympic Games were hosted in Innsbruck 2012, Lillehammer 2016 and Lausanne 2020.
