Due to a small fire in Helsinki Ice Hall prior to the start of the preliminary-round game between Germany and Denmark the arena was completely evacuated and emergency staff called. The fire has now been completely put out and everyone is safe with no injuries. Teams and spectators are free to re-enter the arena.

The game between Germany and Denmark will resume at 18:00 local time (17:00 CET). The evening game between Canada and Kazakhstan has been postponed to 21:30 local time (2:30pm ET, 0:30 Eastern Kazakh time).
