Alois Hadamczik was most recently coaching the Czech U18 national team in 2019. Now we will lead the Czech Ice Hockey Association as President.

Alois Hadamczik was elected as new President of the Czech Ice Hockey Association and succeeds Tomas Kral, who leaves after having headed the organization for 14 years.
Hadamczik got 31 out of 60 votes already in the first round – exact the number needed for a simply majority making further rounds of election redundant. Hadamczik, who celebrates his 70th birthday today, was running against other well-known candidates with national team background – former star players Jiri Slegl and Dominik Hasek, who received 16 and 5 votes respectively for second and third place. Bedrich Scerban (4) and Otakar Cerny (2) were also running for presidency.
“I want to thank you for your trust. It is a great honour for me,” Hadamczik said after his election. “Coming from a village, from Kravar, to get to the national team and to the president of the association... It is an honour and a great commitment. I will do everything I can to not disappoint your trust, to protect Czech hockey and make the right decisions. I have a lot of work and tasks ahead of me.”
The delegates did not vote an entirely new board but the successor of Kral, who resigned, and a new board member with Ales Kmonicek taking the place of Libor Zabransky. The executive board also includes Vice-Presidents Petr Briza and Ales Pavlik, and members Marek Chmiel, Jaromir Jagr, Daniel Sadil, Bedrich Scerban, Jiri Sindler, Jiri Slegr and Milan Vacke.
After discussions and also a debate on TV days before the election, Hadamczik also calmed down those with concerns.
“I’m not coming to the association to threaten anyone, to throw a grenade somewhere and say that a lot of people have to be exchanged. I’m not coming with friends who need a position. I’m coming with my name and I want that name to succeed,” he said in a news conference after the election according to Czech news agency CTK.
Alois Hadamczik has been best known as a hockey coach in Czechia. In the ‘80s and ‘90s he worked his way up from the lower leagues before making it to the Extraliga as head coach of Vitkovice Ostrava, Ocelari Trinec and Sparta Prague.
Between 2003 and 2014 he had several stints with the men’s senior and men’s U20 national teams. He won silver at the 2006 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship and bronze medals at the Worlds (2011, 2012), World Juniors (2005) and Olympics (2006).
He stopped working as a coach in 2016 but had a comeback with the Czech U18 national team at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship.
