The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) released its Official Rulebook 2024/25 in July.

The IIHF is currently in the process of updating the playing rules. This work is done in consultation and partnership with the IIHF Committees, as well as Member National Associations (MNAs), professional leagues, and other stakeholders.

It is the IIHF’s objective to be in line with the National Hockey League (NHL) regarding major updates and changes, in order to keep the standards of the international game and the professional game as close to each other as possible.

The IIHF is using the Situation Handbook as the official document in regard to implementing the playing rules. This document is also updated yearly. The Situation Handbook provides additional information and guidance for rule interpretation and implementation as a complement to the IIHF Official Rulebook.
