Physical Development
The IIHF PDG encourages coaches to create developmentally appropriate training programs for children, adolescents and young adults that meet training objectives throughout the development years.

The Physical Development section provides information and guidelines for coaches to utilize in the creation of developmentally appropriate training programs. 

Physical Development encompasses the growth and development of players. Growth development of players is the physical change due to size and weight increase while players mature. Development describes the ability to perform physical activities with ease and skilfully. The development of the physical quality strength supports the development of Fundamental Movement Skills and other physical qualities. 

The download section contains valuable information for coaches, strength and conditioning coaches as well as parents and others involved in player development. The areas covered are training programming, development of physical qualities, reduction of overuse injuries, conditioning, individualization of training and training and adaptation differences between girls and boys.
