Raeto Raffainer
RAETO RAFFAINER

Raeto Raffainer was born on 1 January 1982 in Wolhusen, Switzerland. He played junior hockey in St. Moritz and Davos before moving to professional hockey, where he played for the ZSC Lions Zurich, SC Bern, the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, HC Ambri-Piotta, and the GCK Lions Zurich.
Towards the end of his playing career, he started coaching in youth hockey with his clubs and the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation. He was the Director of National Teams at the SIHF (2015–2019) and worked as General Manager of various national teams in 23 World Championships and the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Later, he transitioned to club hockey, serving as Head of Sports at HC Davos (2019–2021) and then as Chief of Sports Officer and later CEO of SC Bern (2021–2023).
Currently, Raffainer is the CEO of Swiss University Sports, a multi-sport federation, and a board member of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation. He has been the chairman of the IIHF Coaching Committee and the Associate Member Group since 2021. Additionally, he was a member of the Swiss National Team Committee from 2015 to 2024.
Raffainer speaks German, Romansh, English, Italian, and French. He is married and has two daughters.
